10 Things You Might Be Ignoring as a New Mom
First of all, let me congratulate you on your little bundle of joy. I know you have been waiting for this day since long. So all new moms are of course busy all day long for sure. But have you ever noticed the changes: physically and mentally? In this new phase, the new moms ignore a lot of things that actually require attention. So here we are again to give you some information on a few things you might be ignoring as a new mom.
1. Healthy balanced diet
Yes, you followed the perfect balanced diet while you were pregnant but not after delivery. And this is because you barely find time to eat when you’re with your little one. Even in your tight schedule, take some time to eat a healthy and balanced diet. Eating proper food helps to produce enough milk for the baby and as well as keep you fit and healthy.
2. Asking out for help
Being a new mom can be overwhelming sometimes. A new mother tends to believe that she is a superwoman. She has to do everything on her own and if she fails to do something the feeling of failure upsets her. This leads to overthinking and a lot more. Mommies relax! Asking out for help won’t make you a bad or lazy mom nor make you love your little one less.
3. Personal hygiene
Mothers don’t even realize when the day starts and when the day ends especially during the first four months. I know it’s really difficult to find time for yourself. Even combing your hair and tying it up seems hard to do. But please make sure to find some time to bath and maintain your feminine hygiene properly to avoid future problems.
4. Baby blues
Most of the moms experience this but not sure what to do! You feel emotional, moody, weepy, and irritable for the few days after delivery. This is very normal and it is due to hormonal changes. Try to calm yourself and take a few deep breaths whenever you feel that way.
5. Don’t panic
Parents waste most of their time worrying about the small stuff. Is my baby spitting too much? Is the baby getting enough food or too little? Does my baby cry too much or not enough? This leads to unnecessary tension. Mommie, just take a breath and remember you’re doing fine.
6. Take care of your body and face
As I mentioned before, you totally forget to take care of yourself. After delivery, you experience stretch marks, acne, and dry skin. And if you neglect them, these problems get worse. It’s better to take care of them when they’re at the initial stage.
Follow these tips
● Use body butter to moisturize your skin as your skin is extra dry now.
● Use stretch marks oil to reduce the appearance of stretch marks.
● Follow a skin routine.
● Use mild soaps and body washes.
● Use nipple butter if you have sore or dry nipples.

8. Let your body heal
Give rest to your body. Let it heal. Don’t rush back to the gym or don’t do the household chores as soon as you get back home. You need to rest and take care of your little one. Relax until your body is ready.
9. Don’t forget to take time for yourself
Give time for yourself too. Because you deserve it. You might be sleep deprived before so just sleep whenever the baby sleeps or read a book or watch your favorite TV show.
10. Don’t be hard on yourself
Don’t stress yourself about unnecessary things. Relax and whenever you’re stressed out meditate for some time. This will make your soul and body refreshed. Try to write down the special moments like the first walk, the first time the baby said ‘Dada’ or ‘mama’, the first time reacting to lemon. Trust me this will make you feel happy and you can cherish them throughout your life.
Remember these things shouldn’t be ignored at all. It’s not easy peasy lemon squeezy to be a mom. I agree. But you need to focus on yourself too. At least a little bit.
