7 Easy Quarantine Microwave Recipes for Beginners
Craving for tasty food? Now that everyone is under lockdown the one thing that we miss the most is some delicious food. Thinking about those amazing dishes from our favourite restaurants gets us all in a major FOMO mood. This lockdown has left us all craving for some yummy food but guess what we can always get a little creative and cook delicious food right at home.
Well, there are many microwave recipes that you try at home. All you need to have is a list of ingredients we are going to suggest and that’s all, you can be the master chef of your house. Here are some basic microwave recipes for people staying at home.
1: Mac and Cheese
Who isn’t missing those amazing pasta dine-outs? Well, at least I am. All you need is a bowl full of macaroni, a cup of water, half cup of cheese, half a cup of milk and a pinch of salt for taste. That’s it!
You just need to boil the pasta and start cooking it in the microwave. Continue till it becomes soft and then add milk and cheese. Cook it in the microwave for 30 seconds and kudos your mac and cheese is ready. Add chilli flakes and oregano for the Italian flavour.
2: Chocolate Cake
You definitely miss those amazing pastries, don’t you? Just can’t resist those sugar cravings guys! Well, I can’t bake a cake for you, but yes I can surely share my quick recipe on how to bake a cake right at your home.
Ingredients: 1/3 cup of butter, 1/2 cup of flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence, 1/4 teaspoon baking powder, 1 egg, 1/2 cup milk and a pinch of salt.
All you have to do is add sugar, egg, vanilla extract and milk to prepare a mix. Add flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt and whip it to prepare a smooth mixture. Put it in a mug or a bowl and cook in the microwave for about 3-4 minutes. Keep over-looking and take out the cake when it looks bouncy. Let it cool and turn the mug upside down, and your chocolate is ready!
3: Corn On The Cob
Well, who would have thought that the best way to cook a grill favourite like corn on the cob would be to nuke it in the microwave, husk and all? Not only does it become sweeter and tender but the husk slides right off, too.
This is the best way to have an evening snack, also you can add a pinch salt and spices to give the corn a better taste.
4: No-Fry Potato Chips
Yes, you read that right, no-fry chips. If you can slice the potatoes to just the right thickness, these chips will be the most wondrous things to come out of your microwave. What you have to do is arrange thinly-sliced potatoes in a single layer on a plate and microwave for three minutes at a time, decreasing the power level and flipping the potatoes with each round. Also, sprinkle a little bit of salt and chilli for a better taste.
5: French Toast
Here is one food in a plate that might actually be yummier than the real thing. It’s the simplest recipe, which turns out to be the tastiest breakie you can make at home. All you have to do is take bread and slice it into pieces, dip it in a mixture of beaten eggs and cook it in the microwave of a minute. Add a generous squirt of syrup or honey and your tasty French toast is ready.
6: Scrambled Eggs
Only if you knew this before. Scrambled eggs in a microwave, well you’ll know it now. Two eggs, a splash of milk, salt, pepper, microwave and done. So basically all you have to do is crack open the eggs, add cheese, salt, pepper and other herbs. Beat them and place the mixture in the microwave and that’s all.
7: Gajar Ka Halwa
Well, this recipe is for all those sweet tooth people reading this. What can be a better than Gajar ka halwa? Because dil hai Hindustani
Ingredients: 2 cups of grated carrots, 100g of milk, 2 tablespoon ghee, 4 tablespoons sugar.
Put some ghee into the grated carrot. Microwave for about 2 minutes and then add water. Stir well while microwaving the mixture for about 10 minutes. Cook until the milk blends into the mix and finally add sugar and garnish with nuts.
