From the first swipe to the last date, these Genz and Alpha Genz kids are much more advanced than we millennials used to be when online dating and the world of the internet were still a very new concept for us.
From situationship to ghosting, these terms have transformed how relationships and dating work in today’s time. If you think the dating scene was complicated back in your day then brace yourself for a rollercoaster ride of new terms and trends that make Netflix and chill look old school. Now take a moment and think what if these GENZ dating terms existed in the lingerie world? Sounds crazy right? We felt the same while navigating the similarities between these new dating terms and lingerie styles that have been in the market forever! Keep reading to find out more.
Soft Launch: Teenage Bra
As much as this word sounds polite while saying, you will be shocked to find the meaning of this dating term in real! Put in simple words, it means keeping things low-key before dropping the bomb!
But how does it relate to the style of innerwear? If we had to rename teenage bra as per the lingerie dictionary; soft launch is the perfect fit for this word, though. When a grown girl experiences physical and hormonal changes, a teenage bra is the one she ever wears.
Teenage girls have many questions when they go shopping for their first bra, so they must choose carefully for the first few years before switching to bras designed for grownup women, which come in a variety of styles, fabrics, and colours. To put it simply, she starts from scratch with the help of her mother, who mostly purchases her first underwear until she is mature enough to make her own decisions.
Situationship: Strapless Bra
Second on our list is the term ‘situationship’. This dating lingo perfectly matches with a strapless bra. Curious enough to know how? Well here’s the drill!! If you are in a situationship with someone, it means you are in a pseudo-relationship where you behave like a couple but there’s no tag given. The reason why strapless bras perfectly fit with this dating slang is because of the temporary support it gives to the bras but does not guarantee any commitment to keep your breasts in place. Don’t believe us? Well ask any girl who has ever stepped out wearing a strapless bra, and she will agree with that easing tension to keep adjusting her bra in fear of falling.
Breadcrumbing: Plunge Bra
This dating term is a newbie in the world of Genz that millennials still can’t decode! This word means when someone keeps you stuck by giving you attention in instalments. Well, occasional texts, random stalking on social media and a sudden call in the middle of the day are a few of the most common traits of someone who loves dropping little ‘crumbs’ of attention. In this dating jargon, a plunge bra is ideal since it keeps you hooked long enough to support and elevate your breasts, but you’ll never feel as confident wearing it as you would with regular bra types.
Pocketing: Thongs
When your partner never talks about you in public and never recognizes the relationship in public, this is what pocketing means. This is a clear indication that someone is a red flag since they lack commitment towards their relationship. Now if this ever existed in the lingerie world then it had to be thongs. Well, don’t be amused. I am saying this because these panties stay hidden no matter what you wear as bottomwear. These tiny and not-so-visible panties are designed to provide minimum coverage and avoid visible panty lines. While thongs are the go-to style when it comes to solution-based innerwear it resembles pocketing in the dating dictionary!
Simping : Lace Bralette
The textbook definition of a simp is being submissive or weak! But how does this dating term resonate with a lingerie style and that too a lace bralette? Let me explain. You just become fixated and begin creating imaginary situations in your head that don’t exist when you simp over someone. T
These days, lace bralettes are a type of innerwear that we hardly ever wear. These sexy bra styles for women are hidden in one corner of your closet away from your mother’s eyes and come out occasionally when you are sneaking out to go clubbing with friends or lying at home to go on that much-awaited Goa trip with your boyfriend. Rest of the days, you keep simping over it while admiring standing in front of your wardrobe( sigh)!
Rizzing up: Cage Bra
‘Rizzing up’ is another word from the new lot of GENZ dating slang. This term refers to when someone attracts someone by using their charm. The only bra that truly fits the phrase “rizzing” when dating dictionaries and the lingerie industry intersect is the cage bra. As the word says itself, a cage bra has to be a rare style of bra that does not have any regular boring design but something special. Because of its cage-like back style, it rapidly draws attention without any effort, and girls are unable to resist putting it in their shopping cart without even thinking twice!
Ghosting: Backless Bra
If there’s any dating concept that brings GenZ and millennials on the common page then it has to be the term ‘ghosting’. To put it simply, ghosting is when someone abruptly stops communicating. They stop responding, they don’t answer the phone, and in the worst situation, they may suddenly and without cause block you. Backless bras‘ primary USP of disappearing back straps makes them ideal for ghosting. To hide the visible straps, girls typically pair these bras with dresses or blouses with bare backs.
Catfishing: Push-up Bra
You are mistaken if you are assuming that the term “catfishing” has anything to do with cats and fish. This dating word describes a scenario in which your potential date proves to be someone else in real life, contrary to their online image. And to prove it correctly, it must be a push-up bra in a parallel universe. The reason for this is that, even if your breasts are small, these bras provide you with the much-needed lift and gorgeous cleavage you need. To put it another way, you create an appealing illusion that leads people to think you have some lovely curves by pretending to have them.
Cushioning: Multiway Bra
Cushioning is a dating term wherein a person has multiple relationships and always has a backup plan ready in case their relationship gets over! This approach helps to keep options open for them so that they don’t end up being alone. Now coming to the main part, how does it relate with a lingerie that too a multiway bra? Well, one common thing between these two terms is multiple options. Delusionship is what happens, for instance, when you have a secret crush on someone and they don’t reciprocate, but you are still secretly dating them in your head!
