How to Measure Bra Size?

Measuring bra size doesn’t require you to be a scholar or mathematician; just three steps and voila! Therefore, without further ado, let’s learn how you can find the perfect companion for your girlies, aka, your correctly-sized bra.

Step 1

Calculate band size

Wrap the measuring tape snuggly under your bust or ribcage.
Round the number obtained to the nearest whole number. If the number is even, add 4 inches. If it's odd, add 5.
The sum of this calculation is your band size.

Example: 25.6 Inches will round off to 26 Band size - 26 + 4 = 30

Step 2

Calculate Bust Size

Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust.
Make sure it's not too tight or too loose and without any falls or twists.
Round off the number to the nearest whole number.

Step 3

Calculate the Difference

Now, subtract the band size calculated earlier from the bust measurement.
If the difference between band and bust measurement is 1, then your cup size is A. If the difference is 2, then the cup size will be B, so on & so forth.

Example: Bust = 37 inches, Band = 34 inches, 37 - 34 = 3 inches. That's a 34C!

If you want to measure bra size correctly, there are a few do’s and don’ts that could come really handy.

Wear a non-padded bra.	Pull the tape too tight or keep it too loose; keep it snug.
Correct your posture; stand straight.	Wear an ill-fitted bra during measurements.
Breathe normally during measurements.	If you get a fraction on tape, such as 31.5, don’t round down the size; always round up.
Keep the measuring tape flat on your skin.

Q1. How do you know your bra size without a measuring tape?

It may include a little hassle, but you need a string and a ruler for bra measurement with a measuring tape. Simply calculate your bust size and band size, but using the string. Then, measure them against a ruler and calculate the difference to determine your size. However, we strongly recommend that you use a soft measuring tape.

Q2. When to re-measure your bra size?

It's a good idea to re-measure every 6-12 months, or after significant weight change, pregnancy, or surgery.

Note 1: Your hormones change your bust size throughout the month, such as your bust size may increase near the menstrual cycle.

Q3. What do I do if I'm in between sizes?

If you get an uneven size, i.e., are in between, go a size up, or you could try its sister size.

Q4. What does the number and letter in your bra size represent?

The number (32, 34, 36, etc.) in your bra size represents your band size, and the letter (A, B, C, D, DD, etc.) is for the cup size.

Q5. What is the difference between cup size & bra size?

Your cup size is the difference between your chest size and your bust line measurement, while your bra size is your band size with your cup size.

There should be enough space to let 2 fingers pass through your bra straps.
The back band should lie straight on the back without riding up.
The centre gore should sit flat against your sternum.
The underwires should fully encircle the breasts.
